Milon's Secret Cave!

Progress for my first mod: Milon's Secret Cave.

This game will act as an alternate ending of sorts to the first game. It's also a homage to the whole Milon series because I don't think it has been treated fairly.

so that people know a little bit about the game. I watched a game trailer and it reminds me a bit of Mario ;)

Trailer? Wat? The only thing I could think of would be a fan trailer (but not many fans of the game?). Errr... but yeah I'll edit the original post later with more info when I get back on a computer.

I played this game once and it's Nintendo Hard. The premise seems to be an autistic boy running around an abandoned castle blowing bubbles at things, but I could be wrong. Anyway, if you think you can make a better game around that premise, go for it!

Yep, that's the best explanation of the game XD
And it won't be a true sequel (in terms of original storyline) but I hope to make a better game out of it than the original!

That'd be great! It would be absolutely hilarious to see his reaction (assuming he actually looks at his e-mails, I assume people like him don't).

I mean, I don't plan on making a dick game like the original lol. It will have a completely different difficulty than the original.

I (think) know why he said this. Since there aren't NPCs in the original one, what you want to use to replace the mimigas? To replace Booster? Or maybe Curly? No, I'm not saying this a bad idea. All the game always focus on Milon, and only him. No plot in-game, just in the end(Sorry, Mario but princess in in another castle!), and some elements need to be removed. I think you can't make a game like that in Doukutsu Engine. Try first if you can finish the mod.

For characters, I don't believe I'll use too many at all. If I don't want to have Curly or Booster I will just remove the events in the room and not even use them. I'm not trying to create an exact replica of Milon's Secret Castle, I just want him in it, with some of his games plot.

Yes, you can delete these.But you have some idea about replacing the NPCs? Or you will remove then? Also instead of shops you find the itens somewere. And his weapons?

As I said for the plot, this game isn't going to be an exact replica of Milon's Secret Castle. Many things in gameplay will differ. But if you couldn't already tell, the bubbler will be Milons main weapon.

I finished Milon's Secret Clastle 1 year ago. His only weapon is a bubbler. You can level up it near the end of the game. OK, I know the mod don't need to be the same as original, but I have some questions:
1.His only weapon is the bubbler?
2.What elements of Cave Story will staying the same?

1. I believe since the game revolves around musical instuments, we're gonna have some instruments as weapons. They only affect enemies. Right?

2. Well, most of it, just the platforming part of it. Other stuff as well. You can talk to Tpcool about this.

Correct me if I got any of this wrong, Tpc.

As you said before you just want him in the game. I can make the levels if you want. Like:
First Cave changes to:A cave?
Milon falls in the cave. "Where I am?". There is a star near him. You press down and find the Bubbler.

Something like this?
You maybe change the Bubbler settings.

Change other weapons:
Polar Star: Flute(shot a laser)
Fireball: A Triangle(attack with musical notes that can bounce)

New weapons:
Polar Star: Flute(shot a laser)
Machine Gun: Upgraded Flute*(rapid lasers)
Spur: Advanced Flute*(charge lasers)
Fireball: A Triangle(attack with musical notes that can bounce)
Bubbler: A Drum(throw musical notes)
*To get these you need to trade the Normal Flute.

If prefer the Snake than Original Bubbler.
