i'm an asshole for caring about the future of my country (and the future of the Egyptians too, to a lesser extent i suppose) because there's no way of knowing whether or not they actually won or are going to end up with a worse government or even worse a government that supports terrorism?

... yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Country just overthrew oppressive government, has the West's support. Nothing to celebrate. There is a chance it could end badly, so better be paranod about it.

It's great that Mubarak was a friend of America. But nothing lasts forever I guess. His own country went against him. As for the next leader, who knows what he'll be like? Let's just hope he's friendly to americans, we don't want another frivolous war based on nothing that just kills many young men.

As I see it, there are three possibilities:

- A new leader who likes everyone, Americans included, who supported the revolution

- A new leader who hates everyone who Mubarak liked, including Americans

- An Islamist dictator, who hates everyone who isn't Muslim

I don't know why a new Egyptian leader would hat America. The worst thing the States ever did to Egypt was support Israel... unless I'm forgetting some of my history lessons. America is pro-revolution and pro-democracy, so Egypt and America should get along fine.

I haven't deleted any posts besides a few spambots lately, and there's nothing that says "there was a post here but it got deleted". Are you sure you posted it in the first place?

Either way I don't think this is how we're supposed to discuss such issues. This is a thread about egypt or something.
