I've been working on a new conversion of the Cave Story soundtrack to mp3 for use on the tribute site.

If someone more musically inclined than I could give these a once over then I would be most grateful.

Many (most?) songs start ever slightly off cut off? Makes it sound rushed. Noticeable with songs that start with a second of empty space for lead-in. (example Pulse, Cave Story, Last Battle)

Pulse/meltdown 2,Tyrant certain notes higher pitch than mine? [might be just difference in recording equipment; Someone noted this in my Cave Story recordings before] So probably ignore this.

slightly flatter sound (ever so slight, only because of the recording quality vs comparing it to lossless)

*very* clear sound, loops twice, nice!

XXXX .... is a completely blank track >< Not sure if it's really needed to be included unless there's a reason?
Oh, wow haven't heard Halloween 2 before or Unknown... Nice...

Might be nice to have a m3u playlist included, or to number the tracks... [probably following the organya view song order for original songs?]

EDIT: Forgot to say, excellent work! How did you record it so good?!

I just played with the recording controls until the recorded song was the same volume as the original when played back. If the recording volume is too high then information will get cut off, which would explain the difference in pitch. I also play the org files I am recording directly through orgmaker.

Anyhow I've removed the empty space and increased the bitrate. Please take another look if you happen to have the time.

You'd probably want to record them from orgview rather than orgmaker. Cave Story and orgmaker have some sound discrepancies, but Cave Story and orgview don't.

Although the blank space is gone, some of the songs still have that cut off first note [instead of 11223344 you get 1223344]
It's not too noticeable though, and the rest sounds nice~!

@GIR - that would explain some of the differences... One of the songs had a percussion instrument I hadn't heard before...

Hopefully this should fix the percussion on all of the songs:

At least I would hope so. It was recorded directly from a modded version of Cave Story using a list of stop times from the previous set of mp3's to know the cutoff points.

Edit: I forgot to chop off the empty space from Wind Fortress so download it here:

I need these to be as close to perfect as I can get, so whatever feedback you guys can offer would be most helpful.

Edit2: And I forgot the fade out in Eyes of Flame, so here it is as well:

Edit3: Since no-one is interested in testing anymore I've put them on the site.

Sorry wasn't around the last couple days D:
I'll check it out later, but I'm sure you did Cave Story justice!
