Cave Story Oekaki Collection

Not sure if this goes here or not, but Jackalope sent me this awhile back and I thought I'd share. It's a compilation of some Cave Story oekaki drawings, random fan stuff (including clay figurines and a nice model of the polar star), and some edited screencaps that are quite entertaining.

Be warned: the sub-folder named "アダルト板ログ" contains mostly NSFW images

Sadly, some of the drawings are kinda mediocre..but it contains a lot of good stuff.

It does appear that the link is broken, could anyone with the zip file upload it to MEGA or Drive? I don't recommend MediaFire because they're deactivating old accounts and deleting a lot of important files.

That's true, kids shouldn't look at porn until they're 18 years old. I'm 18 years old and I'm old enough to watch porn by the way. I mean I was born in 2002.

After downloading the Oekaki Collection (thanks, Brayconn) I was able to state about 100 images are NSFW (Around 20+ of those are in the image log), and around 700 are SFW. Most of the adult content is in it's own folder, double-foldered for good measure. And let me just say I love some of the SFW images, big props to the artists who made these.

 

I managed to find this one very nice image.

Actually, It's so nice I wanted it as my wallpaper, but it wasn't 16:9, and since it's oekaki, having the native canvas scale up perfectly is somewhat important, so I've taken liberties to fix that (as well as fix the hand, and some stray pixels) to make it wallpaper worthy for all.

Due to the feedback on the discord, I've went ahead and have done 12 more of these edits! I had a lot of fun messing with these, and now I have a strong slew of wallpapers for one of my favorite games. With the exception of the last image. I've decided against including images that just required upscaling manually, because this collection would be a lot bigger, and most anybody could upscale them themselves. I've reserved my efforts just for images that required some level of artistry to properly upscale. The exception to this is if an image had .jpg artifacts in it. I've gone and removed it thank to the help of AI cleanup and upscaling.

They all have been set to, or are a factor of 1920X1080 natively to prevent fat/tall pixels in the scaling. Enjoy.

BLink, the "feedback" you got on Discord was people telling you not to do it. About 4-5 people, including myself, were giving you detailed, concise reasons why this isn't a good idea, including using uncredited art from a possibly active media creator, stealing material, and not giving credit to others. Most of us on the forums are on the CSMC's Discord server, so I'm sure most people reading this know what you said is a pretty blatant lie, unless your "praise" was from other sources outside of the CSMC's server.

I did get feedback elsewhere that was positive, but it's not what drove me to make these edits beyond just 2 or 3.

The only instance of an artist I could find was one signature that linked to a website that didn't even have the art that was posted. (you can find it here, but it hasn't been updated since you were in pre-school probably.)

I don't see where the lying took place. I said that the feedback in the discord is what made me drove me to do all 13 edits, and it's true. If I would have just been told "good job BLink" I probably would have gotten bored a lot sooner. I enjoyed having detailed responses of how I was "fucking up the composition" and that I was starting morale arguments about editing dead art instead of the usual responce to art in discord art channels that 99% consists of "nice" or "cool".

I'm not saying you're lying, but framing things like this just because you don't like my actions is fairly petty in my humble opinion. (Also you conveniently left out most of my points in the discord screenshots but that's fine I guess)

A) My age is not a valid numerator in the argument, Most believe anyone of any age can make a stable argument with valid points and fair views. Using one's age as a defensive mechanism is borderline childish.

B) I see that other people like your ""art"", and that's fine, but what's not fine is that you're not even considering criticism and backlash you are receiving. Ignoring what others have to say and simply brushing it off proves as an insecurity and a bad decision as a content creator. You can't do that, it's a very bad idea.

Also if you would like me to include your arguments, all you have to do is ask. I'm not intentionally excluding you from the picture.

 

Ffs, if it really matters, at least tell him to research the image and then credit the artist (providing a link could also help, but looking at the artist's name, "Gizensha", and it meaning "Hypocrite" in Japanese, that'll be hard to do). Giving credit is literally the next best thing to asking for permission. Now if you excuse me, I gotta play more minecraft.

I'm not criticizing your age, I'm just putting into perspective how long ago these works were made. If I was talking to somebody like DT I would say "since you were in high school".

But I already did, and people can download the wallpapers. Let the artists come after me themselves.... so that I can follow them on social media because they make rad art.

You mean like modding cave story? I'm pretty sure there's mods that just "extend the canvas" (tweaks, .dll loader, ect)
