Honestly, the way I see it, it'll be better if you get to it sooner rather than later. It'll be a weight off your shoulders once you finish reworking the maps, and once they're finished you can direct all of your focus on finishing up the story.

You don't have to scrap the entire mod just because of the offending maps. All that needs to be done to right the wrong is the redesigning of those maps. Make them yours, not Iron Bird Story's. Sure, it may not be the most pleasant experience to go back to a part of the mod that you had thought...
